![]() ![]() Alexei considered grabbing one on the way back from the market. Alexei could smell the local baker pulling out his first batch of vatrushkas for the day. They acknowledged Alexei with warm smiles as he went by. Women were hanging freshly scrubbed laundry out on wires. The whole city was going about its regular morning routine. “Enjoy the weather while you can Alexei, it’s going to turn on us before the day is out.” One of his neighbors called out in greeting. The morning breeze was cool but refreshing. The market was down near the port, so it was about a ten-minute stroll from his house. His mother had sent him on an errand to the fish market to buy the catch of the day for dinner. The population of Magadan was doing all they could to enjoy their last remaining warm days of the year.Īlexei, a teenage boy, was one such resident. It would be perhaps one more month before the icebreakers would be necessary to open up the bay again. Thanks to icebreaking ships, the port was able to operate all year-round, despite the long and harsh winters of the region. The city was surrounded by mountains, which gave the city a beautiful backdrop in addition to natural resources. The area surrounding Magadan was rich with mineral resources, but gold in particular. The second largest seaport in Northeastern Russia and an important export hub. Seems like that should be automatically set to on if it’s your own forum topic though. Stupid”, so I only recently figured out how to do that. I’d recommend anyone who is tired of having to come back and check all the time, turn on the notification for new posts on this topic. This weekend is starting to look a little booked up to me, so the following weekend is probably more likely. Oh, those units I purchased for the next chapter did arrive yesterday, so as soon as I get some free time I can get back to work. ![]() So I can take advantage of that for now, but it sure would be nice to get the miniatures I paid for 4 years ago without having to pay for replacements. The good news is there’s a board game website that is starting to product Cold War era units that I can use as an alternative source of miniatures. I’m ok using a proxy for a unit from time to time if I don’t have a choice, but in the case of that chapter with the Russian Air Force trying to bomb the Rodans, I didn’t have a fighter, a medium bomber, or the all important heavy bomber like I was supposed to.Ī story can only be as good as it’s weakest elements. It’s like a George RR Martin meme: “Don’t worry those pizzas are coming.” -The you find out he hasn’t even ordered them yet. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times he said he was almost done. And it’s really hard to take this fellow at his word. Just today, this guy said the factory is going to start printing miniatures by the end of this month, but I’m more than a little frustrated by this point. By the time my storyline would reach that far into the timeline, he’d have the units out. He said in the beginning that his project was ‘ready to go’ and just needed funding and he could start producing materials. The thing that annoys me is I already have one chapter that has no photos whatsoever because this supplier’s screwing around. Yeah… I’ll have to use the idea at some point. They even did that in a Godzilla movie once. A lot of the time they’re just drawing in the dirt. I know I’m forgetting a really good one though. The Dirty Dozen had their Donald Duck, Deadpool 2 had something similar, though I think it was a crayon drawing. There’s a lot of funny scenes like that in movies. I might have to incorporate that idea into the story at some point. ![]() ![]() I'd say within 2 weeks though, there should definitely be new material posted. Editing is usually a painful process and arranging miniatures can also be pretty time consuming. The release of chapter 25 will simply depend on how the rest of the week shakes out. Unlike some folks out there, I don't overpromise on what I can actually deliver. So maybe by next weekend I'll have a new chapter out. If I kept waiting for that incompetent Mother*%!ker on Kickstarter to complete his game (it's 4 years past the estimated release date now), I'd never get anything done here.Īnyhow, my replacement pieces will 'probably' arrive sometime this week. I gave up on waiting for my Kickstarter Cold War game to be released and just sought out some units from a different source instead. I'm also waiting on some military miniatures to arrive before I can start doing pictures for this chapter. The first and second drafts are both complete and I'm happy with them. ![]()
