![]() ![]() This was made originally in 1953 to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (aka Knuckles) as the new monarch. ![]() Granted that comes from Chivas, so I rather doubt they’d use the tagline ‘meh, it tastes alright’, but I’m getting ahead of myself. ![]() This blend is boasted as ‘one of the finest blended Scotch Whiskys in the world’. In order to remove this stereotype from my head, I’ve tried different age statements of Chivas, and today will be continuing this trend with Chivas Royal Salute 21 year. Is it booze? Am I drinking it because it doesn’t make me retch? Yes on both? Great, no hangover from rum and cokes and no weird looks from ordering White Russians.Īs such, while I look all ‘cool’ (see: Hipster) and sophisticated (see: old) by ordering a Scotch, it’s not close to a number one choice. While I will enjoy a dram of it while out with people, that’s usually because I want to be social and I’m eating something, so frankly I don’t really care about the taste. Blending depth and elegance, Royal Salute is an exceptional Scotch whisky created from whiskies aged to a minimum of 21 years.(Thanks to /u/Jolarbear for this sample!)Ĭontinuing on with my series named “The Blender: A totally not rip-off of /u/tintin777‘s review series”, I moved along to another well known and respected blend group, Chivas.Ĭhivas and I have not had the best of whisky friendships. This legacy of tribute prevails today as Royal Salute continues to celebrate the extraordinary through momentous whiskies and the occasions that call for them to be enjoyed. As the ultimate sign of respect its name takes inspiration from the 21 Gun Salute fired at the Tower of London for royal celebrations. Ingredients: Water, Malted Barley, Cereal, Yeastīrand Story: Created in 1953 as a tribute to the British monarchy, the first bottles were launched at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate this momentous occasion. The second taste brings in a rich medley of spices and a nuttiness of hazelnuts that have a mouth-filling intensity and then the final warmth from hints of masculine smokiness. Sumptuous sweet orange marmalade flavours infused with fresh pears burst across the tongue. The first taste of Royal Salute brings the subtleties of the nose to life. Message from Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop: "After patiently maturing for a minimum of 21 years, only the finest Scotch whiskies have been hand-selected to regale the senses with this rich, round and velvet smooth blend". A majestic composition of ripened fruits complimented by hints of spice, every drop carries a powerful and remarkable experience. In honour of the British Monarchy, The Signature Blend is sophisticated and opulent in character the result of a selection of rare and exceptional Scotch whiskies, including those carefully watched over at the Royal Salute Vault, destined to make the perfect blend.
